Glut 2 - low affinity for glucose I.e high glucose levels required(high Km) affinity inversely proportional to km...why should it be like this🤔 because Glut 2 located in liver and beta cell pancreas ...we want panc to secrete insulin at high glucose levels only and at high glucose levels only we want to make glycogen in liver ...if not these will lead to hypoglycemiaÂ
Vice versa for GLUT 3 in neurons ..high affinity for glucose I.e works even low glucose concentration..low Km brain needs glucose badly even in low glucose concentration
Glut 1 in brain
Glut 3 in neuronsÂ
